The 7 Month Feast

Saturday was our 7 Month Feast. We have been so busy and this pregnancy seems to have flown by that this really snuck up un us. We thought, uhoh, if we don't have it this weekend, we are going to have to call it the "7ish month feast". So, thanks to Darren and my mom, we put it together without a hitch... the weather even cooperated! We decided that since most of our guests were coming from Orlando we would have the feast at my parents house (it's about an hour less travel time for them). The food included all of the food that I have craved throughout the pregnancies. These included Mac & Cheese, spaghetti & meatballs, French toast (all items from the first trimester), steak (which is pretty much ALL I crave now), and lots of chocolate (I pretty much crave that all the time, pregnant or not!).

We had a great time! Almost everyone we invited could make it. Kids and parents were able to play in the pool, and we had lots of great conversation about babies. Caden was still sick with a cold, so he had a bit of a rough day. Normally, when he's sick, he needs a little extra mom and dad attention, so he was doing all sorts of interesting things to get it (some cute, some not). He wasn't TOO interested in the babies we had over, unless they were close to one of his toys. He would promptly remove the toy that was within their grasp and either play with it, or hand it to us. He did give little baby Kenzie some nice gentle touches before he stood up and tried to step on her (yep, we're going to have to keep a close eye on him when Brody comes!). Poor Maggie (the other 2 year old) was so patient with him. He wouldn't be interested in a toy unless she showed any interest in it. It was a little exhausting trying to remind him that he has four of the same car, and that Maggie can play with one of them. I know that developmentally most 25 month olds are not great sharers (especially when they only get to practice a few times a week in one hour spirits), but we'll just keep trying. He was perfectly happy to stay inside and play when most everyone one else went into the pool. He decided to join everyone outside later and forgot that we normally take off his clothes before he gets in the water! It was very cute!

During the feast we asked everyone to write down an inspirational saying, favorite bible verse, or nursery rhyme that we are going to include in a book for Brody. (Side note to family members: we will be asking each of you for one also, so start thinking!) We also put out diapers for our guests to write funny little sayings on so that when we are changing Brody's diaper at 2:00am, it would put a smile on our faces!

I have to thank my wonderful husband and mom for all their hard work; I really felt like we were able to pull off a wonderful celebration of this pregnancy and the up-coming birth of Brody.

What?

I think Caden forgave us for making him share all of his toys when he saw we had cake and icecream...

YEP!

Darren, Brody and me at the end of the day

Yesterday we decided that Caden needed some extra TLC from us, so we changed all of our plans for spending the day in Viera and took him home (after he got his Grandma fix or as he calls her, "Ga Ga" fix!). After lunch and a nap (for both Caden and mommy - thanks Daddy!), we headed over to the beach. It was a gorgeous day and the water was really warm (I actually got my bathing suit wet!). Darren dug a huge hole and Caden played with his cars and trucks inside the hole for hours. It was so relaxing and so wonderful! We love our beach, it's quiet, full of wildlife and breezy. It was a great day.
